SEPULTURA Guitarist Comments On Brazilian Aviation Disaster
July 23, 2007SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has issued the following update:
"We're in Riga, Latvia, after 15 years. We came here in '92 on the 'Arise' tour and things changed a lot since then. In '92, just after the wall came down in Berlin, coming out a comunist regime that was brutal and asphixiating, Latvia was emerged in confusion and poverty. Today it is in total reconstruction. Everything is more modern and functional, more capitalist. Maybe, there's no other way, in one hand is great to see people more confident and happy, but in the other hand we all know where capitalism can take us. CHAOS!
"Talking about chaos, that's the situation in Brazil, actually in the skies of Brazil. An absurd! Only in tragedy the authorities do something. Now, everybody wants to resolve things as fast as they can, with urgency. The problems in the Congonhas Airport in Sao Paulo has been discussed a long time already. AND? NOTHING is being done! This is one of the worst things about capitalism: profit above all! Above security, above common sense. They schedule flight after flight, in an airplane that doesn't fit our legs because the plane have to have as much seats that can possibly fit. The price is lower but the service is shitty!
"Well, the press is all over talking about, people are outraged and we can forget our political mess a little...
"We are here in Europe playing hard and representing Brazil, besides all the problems and corruption, with a lot of energy!
"The Brazilian art is the only way to bring dignity to a population that is cheated all the time!"
The 10th episode of Romania's Metalhead TV includes a video interview with Andreas Kisser, conducted before SEPULTURA's July 12, 2007 concert in Bucharest, and performance footage of three songs from the same show. Watch it online:

Commenting on SEPULTURA's current touring/recording plans, Kisser said, "Our intention, really, is to play as much as we can to prepare this band to start writing new material. So we're gonna start writing a new album at the end of the year, hopefully to release next year, sometime in the second [half of 2008]."
